The WMPO is the regional transportation planning agency for the lower Cape Fear region of southeastern N.C. that serves as the basis for the expenditure of all federal transportation funds in the area for streets, highways, public transit, bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
The committees meets the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 2 pm in downtown Wilmington.
WMPO Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee
This committee advises the WMPO board on issues regarding bicycle and pedestrian programs, projects, policies and safety concerns. It meets the 4th Thursday of the month at 3 pm in downtown Wilmington.
Marketing Committee – alternate member
This committee serves in an advisory capacity to the Wilmington & Beaches Visitors Bureau on marketing and advertising efforts to promote travel and tourism in Kure Beach. It meets the 4th Tuesday of the month at 11 am at Town Hall.
Community Center Committee – alternate member
This committee oversees the use and condition of the town's Community Center. It meets the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 9:30 am at the center located at 118 N. Third Avenue.
Board of Adjustment – two alternate members
This board hears & decides on the outcome of appeals for variances and decisions of the Building Inspector related to the zoning ordinances of the Town. The board meets annually in January at the Town Hall and as needed when a case comes before the board.
