Ocean Rescue Team
Headed up by the Fire Department, Ocean Rescue is overseen by full-time firefighter JD Lanier.
The Ocean Rescue team consists of 30 seasonal guards. This includes the following staff members:
- Head Lifeguard
- Assistant Head Lifeguard
- 30 Lifeguards
- Community Risk Reduction Specialist
Ocean Rescue tryouts for the 2023 season are as follows:
May 6th at 10:30am
May 13th at 10:30am
Location: To the right of the Kure Beach Pier
Tryout Details: 1 mile run directly into 500 meter swim
Pay: $15.00/hour
