Recreation
The Kure Beach Recreation Department provides the opportunity for residents and visitors to have fun and engage in the community by managing activity at town facilities, special events, programs, and classes.
The Recreation Department was established in 2018 and is based out of Kure Beach Town Hall. The Department consists of two full time employees, along with seasonal part-time help as needed. The primary duties of the Recreation Department are as follows:
- Manage rental of town facilities and special events
- Coordinate educational and entertainment programs at town facilities
- Administer recreational programs and classes at town facilities
- Promote town events, programs, classes, and facilities
The Town's recreation facilities consist of the following:
- Joe Eakes Park, located off K Avenue on South 7th Avenue, contains tennis, pickleball, basketball, and bocce ball courts, baseball field, disc golf course, play ground, dog park and a shaded picnic area.
- The Kure Beach Ocean Front Park is located on Atlantic Avenue, near the Kure Beach Fishing Pier and fronts the beautiful Atlantic Ocean. This park houses an expansive pavilion, public restrooms, a kiddie play area with pirate ship and park benches and swings. The pavilion is available for rent for private events. The beautiful view of the ocean makes it a perfect location for beach weddings without the sand.
- The Kure Beach Community Center is located on Third Avenue, near Big Daddy's Restaurant, and is available for rent for private parties, receptions, business meetings and other events.
