IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM THE EMERGENCY MANAGER

Monday, September 16, 2024 - 6:11pm

Kure Beach Citizens,

I hope this finds you safe and well. The impact of the tropical cyclone was very significant with large amounts of flooding throughout Town. In addition to the large amounts of rainfall received over the weekend, the Town received 14.46” in the past 24 hours.

The Mayor declared a state of emergency at noon today based on the excessive roadway flooding and number of vehicular and home rescues that were occurring.

If you feel your property is unsafe or need assistance the Red Cross is available at the Carolina Beach Recreation Center behind Carolina Beach Town Hall until 7 pm tonight or call them at 1-800-733-2767.

Many of our residents have been impacted with water in their homes from the rainfall, which was unfortunately impacted by inconsiderate drivers who did not slow down going through high water.

Town employees worked diligently throughout the storm to do everything they could to minimize property damage and ensure public safety.
