IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM THE EMERGENCY MANAGER
Kure Beach Residents,
Temperatures tonight are forecast to get just below freezing, which will refreeze the roads from today. Fortunately the temperature will rise into the 40’s tomorrow and we should see the roadways improve through the day tomorrow. By early afternoon, the roadways should be significantly better than we have seen for the past few days, but please use caution as icy spots in shady areas will remain throughout Friday and into Saturday until we have forecasted higher temperatures and clear skies.
No accidents or injuries were reported to Emergency Service personnel during the past two days, please be safe tonight and tomorrow morning as it will remain slippery. There was one additional burst pipe in the commercial district isolated by KBFD and Public Works personnel and 1 medical response (not cold or ice related).
Public Works and KBFD is available to respond to any water leaks that require water shutoff. Contact the Public Works off hours call number at 910-458-5816 or KB Fire Department at 911.
Town Hall will remain closed tomorrow and will reopen on normal schedule on Monday.
Trash pickup will resume our normal schedule on Monday morning.
Respectfully,
David W. Heglar, PE
Emergency Manager
