Kure Beach Citizens,
There is a Storm Warning issued for the area by the National Weather Service. As of 7:00 pm the following has been communicated for tomorrow:
Please take action to secure your property for the following storm impacts beginning tomorrow:
NWS Wilmington provided an intermediate update on the impacts and timing for the storm system which will bring a variety of weather impacts to the region on 09 JAN 2024.
Winds: An Inland Wind Advisory will be in place for gusts up to 55mph and a High Wind Warning will be in place along the coast for wind gusts greater than 55mph. Winds will increase throughout the day, and the highest winds are expected Tuesday afternoon through Tuesday evening.
Severe Weather: An Enhanced Risk (3 out of 5) of severe thunderstorms with damaging wind gusts and strong tornadoes is in place. The greatest potential will be with the main squall line, sweeping west to east Tuesday afternoon and evening. Isolated severe storms may also occur ahead of the main squall line.
Excessive Rainfall: Rainfall of 1”-2” with locally higher amounts in a short period of time could cause flash flooding.
Coastal Flooding: A Coastal Flood Advisory will be in place with minor coastal flooding likely at the beaches and along tidal creeks and river during high tide on Tuesday (7:40am and 7:51pm)Thank you,
