BACK TO SCHOOL BEACH CLEANUP SATURDAY, AUGUST 24TH

Wednesday, August 14, 2024 - 10:46am

It’s that time of year again. Students are looking for that perfect backpack, shopping for new clothes and of course, cleaning up the beach! The North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher (NCAFF) and the Town of Kure Beach invite students and anyone in the community to bring their school spirit to the Back-to-School Beach Cleanup Saturday, August 24 from 8-10 a.m. at Ocean Front Park in Kure Beach. Complimentary parking is available in town spaces for all beach cleanup volunteers during the event.

“We are excited to host a Back-to-School Beach cleanup as one of the many themed opportunities throughout the year for the community to join us in making a difference for our ocean. We look forward to seeing everyone showing their school pride, with all volunteers coming together in the spirit of caring for our planet,” said Joanna Zazzali, director, NCAFF.

Beach cleanup volunteers are encouraged to wear their school colors or even mascots. The most spirited beach cleanup volunteer will take home a cool sustainable prize from the Aquarium. The Aquarium provides reusable gloves, pickers and bags for cleanup volunteers. The team will be serving Bird Friendly ® coffee, water and donuts. All beach cleanup volunteers are encouraged to register and take the green pledge at Back-to-School Beach Cleanup
