LETTER FROM KURE BEACH DONATION CENTER

Thursday, October 24, 2024 - 9:06am

Dear Island Community,

I want to thank you, our Island Community, for stepping up in a big way to help the people devastated by Helene on the western side of our state.  It's been a few weeks since the flood that devastated Western NC and unfortunately has already faded from the news cycle. However, the need for assistance continues to be great. We just had a man return to the Island from spending a week helping with the recovery and he shared the need has not diminished.

Our Church will continue to be a donation center for the relief effort in Western NC until the need no longer exists. The Network we serve with is very efficient: when we receive a donation it is literally on the other side of the state within a few days. Please visit our website, kurebeachfbc.com,  for updated lists of things they need the most as it does change. Below is the most up-to-date list we have received.

Western NC Updated List

  • Non perishable food / 10 cans of vegetables
  • Water of any size
  • Small propane heaters
  • Small propane cylinders
  • Work gloves
  • Personal hygiene items
  • Thermal underwear
  • Coats and boots
  • Sleeping bags, blankets & tents
  • Shovels, hammers, extension cords
  • *** Please note - general clothing items are not needed at this time.

You can drop items off at our church campus - 208 6th Ave South, Kure Beach.

  • M-F, 8 am - 4 pm
  • Call me to make arrangements to deliver at a different time if needed. (910) 458-5074.
  • You are also welcome to drop off anytime on Sunday Morning at our Beach Church Service at the Kure Beach Pavilion from 8-9:30 am and at our church campus on 6th ave from 9 am - 12 noon.

We have a lot of people wanting to donate general clothes. They are not needed at this time by our group so please don’t bring them here. Only bring the specific clothing items listed above. I see on FB other groups are collecting clothes.

We are An Island Community Church and we desire to provide a way for the people of our Island to Love, Serve and Help our fellow man in their time of need. May God Bless your efforts and my God Bless the people of Western NC through your generosity.

Compelled by the Love of Christ,

Pastor Andrew Matthews
