IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM THE EMERGENCY MANAGER
Kure Beach Residents,
The town received a mixture of ice and snow throughout Tuesday night into Wednesday late morning. The roadways will refreeze overnight and will be more slippery later this evening and tomorrow morning than this afternoon.
Two burst waterpipes were dealt with by FD/PW personnel.
No injuries or traffic accidents were reported. Please continue to exercise extreme caution when walking or driving. Elevated stairwells and sidewalks are very slippery as well. Please only be on roadways for REQUIRED needs, as the majority of businesses and doctor’s offices will most likely be closed again tomorrow.
Be especially aware of BLACK ICE throughout the next few days as temperatures will remain low.
Elevated surfaces (including beach accesses and outside home stairways) represent a high risk potential with snow and/or ice and additional caution is recommended.
Plants and animals should be taken inside and for any non-insolated water pipes (outside shower, connected outside hoses, poorly isolated external walls) the piping should be drained or insulated to prevent bursting.

TRASH PICK UP:
Due to the roadways – trash pickup is delayed until Thursday midday at the earliest.
TOWN HALL HOURS OF OPERATION:
Town Hall will reopen on FRIDAY at if conditions allow. Council will review conditions Thursday afternoon. If icy conditions exist on entryways to Town Hall, to protect citizens and staff council office hours will be adjusted accordingly.
Respectfully –
